Da Gelge Sherpa
Da Gelge Sherpa also known as Dawa to the mountaineers is a former mountaineering guide who has summited numbers of mountains such as Mt. Everest(8848m), Mt. Dhaulagiri( 8167m), Mt. Cho-Oyu (8188m) 5 times, Mt. Shishapangma (8027m)-8 times, Mt. Pumori, etc. in the past. He is a respected person in the Sherpa fraternity. He started working in the mountains when he was very small. Being born in the Solukhumbu, the region of the highest mountain in the world plays a major part in his career as a Sherpa. Alike many people from the Sherpa community who has been serving the foreigners with their immense knowledge of the mountains, he also choose the same profession of being a Sherpa guide. He started small as a porter and with his interest and hard work for many years paid off to him becoming a Sherpa leader and eventually a tourism entrepreneur.
Mr. Dawa Sherpa has been well-loved and appreciated by all the climbers that he has supported to reach their goals. He has always been caring and responsible for the foreign climbers as well as the well-being of the Sherpa staff and porters on the trip. He has guided many people for 25 plus years and is still continuing to do the same. His desire to explore and promote the off-beaten trials has always helped us developing the itineraries and travel packages. Besides, mountaineering he has also been involved in a non-profit organization namely High Altitude Mountain Worker Welfare Association who works for the betterment of the safety of the workers by providing various training and also helping their family.
